this is a small collection that i made from the past few years of phone recordings. as seen in the cover photo, i keep my phone screen extremely simple -- the only apps on the home page are my diary and my voice recorder. and in moments of creativity, i access the voice recorder as quickly and as blindly as possible, so that i can get as close as possible to the version of myself that doesn't know he's being recorded.

i listened to many many hours of these voice memos and promised myself that i would power through and not avert my gaze from anything i found cringey or dull. the end result was a small mix of guitar and piano improv, loops/drones, nature samples, radio pastors, and songs. i also put an alternate version of my song "boats" from "fool river" at the end of this project. it isn't a voice memo but it felt like a fitting way to wrap this project up
